Air principle
From outlet to occupied zone.
At the outlet
A finely perforated face plate lets the air out with low turbulence and little momentum. A jet deflector lifts the flow just off the floor. (DS 4054 E p. 4)
In the room
At the feet up to 0.17 m/s, usually below 0.16 m/s. Above 0.3 m it stays below 0.10 m/s. The cool layer rises on the warmth of the visitors to their breathing zone. (DS 4054 E p. 2, p. 4)
Construction
A cassette with perforated inlet (rear or bottom), a built-in jet deflector and a finely perforated face plate. With frame and screws or claws, or frameless with clamping brackets and sealing strip. (DS 4054 E p. 2)
Smoke test
Airflow in the Krantz lab.
A real smoke test in the Krantz flow laboratory: this is how air leaves the Q-SL.
Technical data Q-SL

Versions and sizes
Three lengths, one height.
500 · 1 000 · 1 200 mm, height 120 mm (DS 4054 E p. 5). The 1 200 mm length is meant for two seats (p. 5).
Mounting
with frame (screws or claws) for higher steps; frameless with clamping brackets for low, curved or polygonal steps (p. 2)
Finish
visible part in RAL (p. 8)
In the auditorium
in the step riser right behind the seats, often as a continuous band; timber or concrete steps (p. 2)
Applications
Where it belongs.
Lecture halls, conference halls, theatres and other rooms with raked seating, with timber or concrete steps (DS 4054 E p. 2).
Krantz references in the Netherlands: Amphion Theater, Doetinchem (Q-SL); the Q-SR/Q-SL product page also lists De Doelen, Rotterdam; Tuschinski, Amsterdam; International School, The Hague
When not: If the steps must also heat, the data sheet gives no heating value (DS 4054 E). For a circular outlet per seat instead of a continuous band, look at the Q-SR (DS 4054 E p. 3–4). If the air should come from the seat itself, the Q-ST in the seat pedestal fits (DS 4028 E p. 2).
