All attention on the work.
In a museum the air must not stand out: not in the visitor’s face, not in the view of the gallery, not in the architecture of the building. The components disappear into wall, floor or ceiling, and the air moves so calmly that you forget it.
The challenge
- High galleries, often in a listed building, with little room for ducts and outlets.
- A changing number of visitors, so a changing heat load.
- Outlets that must not compete with the collection.
The approach
Low, invisible, or from a distance.
Displacement along walls and columns
The Q-R stands as a flat unit in front of a wall, parapet or column, or is built into furniture. The air leaves the face plate at less than 0.25 m/s and spreads low across the floor (DS 4021 E p. 2). For a column there is the semicircular Q-ZH (DS 4022 E p. 2–4).
From high above the gallery
In large, high spaces the VA-PV lets the air fall vertically and with low turbulence from 4 to 8 m (DS 4061 E p. 2).
Invisible in the ceiling
With the same perforation pattern as the ceiling, Opticlean cannot be told apart from an ordinary ceiling tile (DS 4136 p. 2).
A line in the ceiling
Linear induction diffusers disappear into the architecture. The IN-N6 works up to 7 m discharge height; Krantz’s datasheet uses a museum as its worked example (DS 1125 E p. 2, p. 5).
High galleries with changing loads
The adjustable radial swirl diffuser RA-V2 tilts its jet from horizontal to vertical, thermostatically without wiring if required (DS 4122 E p. 2). Peek’s rule of thumb: from about 3–3.5 m discharge height, an adjustable outlet.
