Air principle
From outlet to occupied zone.
At the outlet
The air leaves evenly across the whole perforated plate. (DS 4136 p. 2)
In the room
Then it spreads radially and horizontally. An air cushion stays below the plate, so entrained room air does not touch it and the ceiling soils far less. (DS 4136 p. 2)
Construction
An air distribution element above a perforated face plate, with a plenum box (standard or flat) and spigot. Optional damper, fleece covers and a frame for plasterboard. (DS 4136 p. 3–4)
Smoke test
Airflow in the Krantz lab.
A real smoke test in the Krantz flow laboratory: this is how air leaves the OC-Q.

In the ceiling
in place of a tile in a 600 or 625 grid ceiling, or in a plasterboard ceiling with mounting frame (p. 10–11)
Applications
Where it belongs.
Suspended ceilings, 600/625 grid or plasterboard. The worked example in the data sheet is an office building (DS 4136 p. 7).
When not: Above 4.5 m room height it is outside its range (DS 4136 p. 2). For a circular face, look at the OC-R (DS 4174e p. 2). If the room must warm up quickly, there is the OC-V with thermostatic element (DS 4202e p. 2–4).
